The WGA has drafted the film nominations for its 2023 Writers Guild Awards, covering original, adapted and documentary screenplays. See the full list below.
Up for Original Screenplay are the scripts for Everything Everywhere Everything at once, The Fabelmans, The Menu, Nope and Warehouse. In the running for the adapted screenplay are Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Glass Onion: A Mystery at Daggers Drawn, Top Gun: Maverick and women who talk.
Of the 10 nominees in the non-doc feature races, four are different from the Oscar nominations revealed on Tuesday: The menu and No in the original version, and wakanda forever and She says in Adapted.
Deadline awards columnist Pete Hammond noted this month that the now Oscar-nominated original scripts for The Banshees from Inisherin and triangle of sadness are ineligible for WGA consideration, as are Academy Adapted Nominees In the west, nothing is new and Life. Such exclusions occur every year because WGA-eligible photos must have been written under the guild’s minimum basic agreement or under a good faith collective bargaining agreement from various international organizations affiliated with the WGA.
